Blizzard has confirmed that Sam Raimi (you know - Spider-Man, Evil Dead, that guy) will direct the upcoming film based on the Warcraft universe.

Also attached is Charles Roven, who recently turned his hand to producing The Dark Knight and before that Batman Begins. His production company, Atlas Entertainment, is on board.

Frankly, there's more producers attached than you could fit in a comedy clown car. Here's the rundown given by Blizzard: "Roven, with Atlas producing partner Alex Gartner, will be producing with Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull, Legendary's Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni, Raimi and Raimi's producing partner Joshua Donen. Raimi's partner, Robert Tapert, will be an Executive Producer and Blizzard Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Creative Development, Chris Metzen, a Co-Producer."

The film falls under Legendary Pictures' co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros.

Further details such as casting, the release date and whatnot will be revealed "as development progresses".
