Pricing iPhone and iPod touch games - no matter how big the game name - seems to be a tricky business if you want your title to remain visible. People are used to free apps or 59p downloads for that quick (yes, drunken) download moment.

Konami, armed with big console brands such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill, appears to have realised that the Gold Rush fever of the Appstore may also lead to being lost in the rush, and is therefore slashing the prices of five of its titles:

Metal Gear Solid Touch - (£4.99) - £1.79
Silent Hill The Escape - (£3.49) - £0.59
DanceDanceRevolution S - (£3.49) - £0.59
Silent Scope - (£3.49) - £0.59
Frogger - (£2.39) - £0.59

This is, however, not a permanent price drop. It begins for Europe tomorrow (July 23rd) and ends on Saturday July 25th, after which prices go back up to the previous rates.

We expect other 'mainstream' publishers to follow the lead.

DanceDanceRevo S - why would you pay 3.49 when you can get Tap Tap Revenge 2 for free? 59p is much more likely to get reflex purchases

1.79 still seems too costly for MGSTouch - my one word review? "rubbish"

They could always try to advertise in end user websites and magazines. Used to work for many decades.
