The next Resident Evil film, suffixed 'Afterlife', will come in glorious 3D. 3D!

Paul W.S. Anderson, director of the first RE film and writer and producer on the second two, is returning to direct the film. He told Shock Till You Drop that they are using the same camera system as James Cameron used for Avatar.

Anderson also noted that, "I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."

Production Weekly, a publication that documents production schedules for films, states that an eight week shoot for the film will start on September 28th at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto.

Milla Jovovich is returning as Alice for Afterlife, while we can apparently expect some returning characters from the films and newer characters from the games. The film's scheduled for release in September next year.
