God of War Collected PS2 to PS3
A strange way to handle backwards compatibility
Posted 1 Sept 2009

Sony has been reading surveys apparently. It also appears that literally lots of people want to play PS2 games on their PS3s. Well, actually lots of people want to play the more elderly God of War games on the PS3s that don't have backwards compatibility.
The collection, sees "reworked" and remastered versions God of War and God of War II in "full 1280 x 720 resolution" with "anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second". So far, the only price available is $39.99.
"We are excited today to announce God of War Collection", said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America... before we got bored.
So, GoW and GoW II the first signs of the direction that backwards compatibility is going. Do you consider this a great new move of remastery? Or simply a way to get you to pay for games again? To the Forum please.

well I never played the first 2 so I'm not "paying again" and with them being on 1 disc it saves room on my bookcase

Sounds to me, though, like trying to make people rebuy their stuff.
You can keep your PS2 if you really have to. What's the benefit of this version? 720p, anti-aliasing... not worth rebuying in my opinion. Unless you're the people selling them, of course.
I recommend - after a few more of these "versions" come out, save up the cash and buy a PS2, or even buy a PS3 60GB off ebay.
Don't endorse rebuying.

dude, no is forced to rebuy what they already own, they do it by choice, I have both a PS2 and 60GB PS3 (which don't play the GOWs hence the remakes) and I'll be damned if I'm getting the PS2 versions after hearing this news.

Its clear that this was always their plan, which is why they don't want to push BC on PS3.
I'm sure GoW trilogy on PS3 will be cool. I just hates Sony's cloak and dagger tactics.
