One theory here is that, despite an advertising barrage across all media, Beatles fans are either patient (waiting for a price drop) or simply want to listen to the music rather than pretending to play along with it. Or, Guitar Hero is just more popular.
Also new to the chart is Colin McRae Dirt 2 (Number 2), a fine figure of a racing game. Other notables see Arkham Asylum holding a top three spot (Number 3). Ashes Cricket maintains the last vestiges of summer at Number 10, while Mario Kart Wii returns to the Top 10.
(NE) - 1 - Guitar Hero 5 - Red Octane
(NE) - 2 - Colin Mcrae: Dirt 2 - Codemasters

(NE) - 4 - The Beatles: Rock Band - EA Games
(4) - 5 - Wii Fit - Nintendo
(2) - 6 - Wii Sports Resort - Nintendo

Would say the high price point made the difference but the closely priced GH5 seemed to do OK with relatively meager promotion compared to The Beatles RB.
Could the typical GH/RB player just not care about Beatles music? And the age range that does care are a bit more frugal and would rather spend that money on the music or paying their bills?
I think it goes to prove the limited appeal of one band music titles. Especially when the band concerned, isn't that challenging instrumentally.

Thinking about it, could this all be down to the work of Courtney Love? She has been giving GH5 a lot of free press recently...
