Pow! 250Gb Modern Warfare Xbox 360 = $399
UPDATE: Graeme Boyd Xbox Community Manager, Europe, has just stated that the console has been priced at $399 - there is no UK price as yet.

Microsoft has produced a limited edition Xbox 360 in time for the November 10th launch of (Call of Duty) Modern Warfare 2. It's got a design exactly like the one you can see in the image accompanying this story. It's got a 250GB hard drive; bigger than the current elite by 130Gb. It's got two wireless controllers, a headset.

Oh, of course, it also comes with a copy of Modern Warfare 2.

Don't expect to be able to wander down to your local, independent retailer and grab one of the - as yet unpriced - consoles though. Microsoft and Activision Blizzard have done an exclusive deal with the Game Group, so you'll have to wander down to Game or Gamestation.

There is also some quite fantastic corporate BS to go with it. Vince Zampella, CEO of developer, Infinity Ward, spouts: "It’s the highest compliment to the team and our fans to have a special themed Xbox 360 console." No, no it isn't Vince. The highest compliment to the team would probably be an Oscar of some sort and a huge payment bonus. As for the fans? Do people need to be complimented on being a fan?

But there's no stopping Vince's blather, "The precision and detail that’s been put into the console captures the intensity and feel of Modern Warfare 2", that's just meaningless.

Anyway, the excellent-looking console will be available in time for the game launch... we're checking on the price.

While the timing is bizarre, I heard whispers about this, before Sony dropped their prices on PS3, and announced the PS3 Slim. Its no surprise Sony also have their own 250gb model in the pipe to match it. 'Sharpen bayonets, boys, this now a hard drive war'. And I was just about to buy a 120gb to upgrade from a 2ogb too. Guess I'll wait now.

I'd have to say, if I needed a second 360, this baby would sweeten the queens heads emptying from my wallet. Good one MS, and its about time we started getting two controller in a pack. Last time this happened was back in the SNES days, and I'm sure we are all tired of being nickel and dimed to get a second one.

One question beckons though, just how much is this 250gb drive going to sell for on its own? This area is still one that MS has awful pricing in. I feel that they should be pushing all 360 owners to have a hard drive, but they don't seem to do that with the Arcade Pauper pack.

@Joji Update

Weird! Looks like MS aren't going to be selling the 250gb hard drive to us after all, and these packs are the only way to get them.

Two steps forward, one back, MS.

Just as well, with the current pricing model, the 250GB hard drive on it's own would probably cost more than a PS3 slim.
