In Japan, Sony issued a price cut of the PSP-3000, which according to today's official Media Create charts appears to have paid off very nicely for Sony. This week, the PSP's sales shot up by over 33,000 units and is within spitting distance of the DSi, which managed to outsell Sony's handheld by just over 2,000 units.

For the home console charts, Nintendo's own price cut of the Wii re-ignited sales to more than double last week's number. The PS3 is still outpacing its rival, riding high on its recent Slimpact, although sales are down from last week.

Nintendo doesn't have much time to regain the lead before Final Fantasy XIII rears its head on 25th December, possibly changing the hardware landscape for good.
