Final Fantasy XIII: Mysterious Character Revealed
Is she a villain, or is she a goodie?
Posted 15 Oct 2009

Thanks to Shonen Jump (via IGN), the mystery Final Fantasy XIII character shown in Square-Enix's Tokyo Game Show trailer has been named. Oerba Yun Fang is a black-haired girl that appeared to be villainous in the TGS trailer, but is apparently a playable character, using a spear to mince her enemies.
In the trailer, we saw that Yun Fang is a l'Cie like lead character Lightning and the rest of the heroes in the game, but her dialogue suggested that she was on the side of the government in ridding Pulse of her own race. Is she an insider for the good guys, or a double-crosser? It's quite intriguing.
Yun Fang's summon was also revealed to be Bahamut, one of the most badass monsters in Final Fantasy with the power of laser beam breath. Speaking of summons, Shonen Jump also touched on character Sazh's paired creature, and it's Brynhildr, complete with sports car transformation. Awesome.
