Both social gaming companies have denied all rumours, but increasing talk is spreading that EA and Playfish is already a done deal, with a $250 million acquisition that apparently took place weeks ago.
With EA looking for more unique ways of capturing the casual market, and an already-announced vested interest for Internet Browser gameplay, heading into Facebook territory makes a lot of sense. Playfish in particular is said to be making about $75 million this year, so it's easy to see why the publisher would want to capitalise on this market.
Business Insider spoke to a Playfish spokesperson who said; "We don't comment on rumors. Full stop."
