SPOnG called Sainsburys and had it confirmed that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will sell at £26 - £28.99 below the notorious £54.99 RRP. We were told, however, that the PC version will still set you back £34.99. Reflex over on the Wii is £29.99.

GAME, however, will give you it at £25 if you also trade in CoD4, while HMV will reportedly give you it for just £9.99 if you trade in Forza 3, Tekken 6 or Uncharted 2. Yeah the trade in deals sound a bit odd - most of the games for trade are very new. As for the Game deal, that is tempting but I've spent more time running around the COD4 maps than any levels in gaming and think I'll find it hard to let go. Saying that, I bet I forget about it after one day with COD4:2.
And to Sean, it's a loss-leader. Go in to buy MW2 and they hope you will buy their other stuff too. Does it work? I don't know. But you don't get to be Sainsburys and co. by making dumb moves.

@sean it's called a "loss leader". they hope you come into the store to pick up the game and do some grocery shopping too. even if you don't buy anything else, you might have a wonder around the store and see what they have available, and maybe come back on another day to buy stuff. stuff that you wouldn't have known about if you had never set foot in the store before.

Sean, footfall. Sains has to stop people going to ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco. Chances of someone going just to buy MW2 rather than MW2 and "I may as well get the bin liners, Pepsi, Mars bars and tampons as well" are slim.

Except that they already got paid exactly what they would get even if Sainsbury sold it to you for £55. Activision dont care what they shops sellit at cos they already have their money!

I got my copies (one for my cousin) from Morrison's earlier, for the ripe old price of £25.99 each 8~)

Makro was selling this for £20.00!!!!! ok not everyone had an account, but even at £25.99 i got it from Tesco from £25.00 becuase i bought Eyepet for the kids at £30.00 so surly this must be a world record for cheapest ever AAA launch price, the irony the activison makes it the most expensive game yet retailers make the biggest loss ever! and yes as Tim pointed out i bought my Mars Bars, Bin Liners, Pepsi and Tampons!
i also picked up a new dinning set, extra PS3 game, some kids clothing, a Sun, Jelly tots and Fruit Pastels and some christmas selection boxes.
so i expect Tesco made a tidy profit on my trek to buy MW2 when i normally shop at asda for my food etc and Game for my gaming needs.

Good to know that the standard supplies of Mars bars, bin liners, Pepsi and tampons were also part of the bundle.
And after all that discounting and supermarket selling, what ho! 1.23 million sales on Day 1 (of the game, not the Pepsi). Seeing as a vast amount of cash is going to be made from online, given that the single-player lasts for about 2minutes, I'd say that Microsoft and Activision will have benefited from getting the game to the punters. If I was GAME, however, I'd be very unamused.
