MW2 Javelin Glitch Being Fixed, Will Get You Banned
Infinity Ward and Microsoft all announce fixes via Twitter.
A glitch in Modern Warfare 2 that allows players to turn themselves into an exploding human bomb is said to be getting fixed by Infinity Ward, while Microsoft announces that anyone using the glitch will be banned from Xbox Live.
Known as the ‘Javelin’ Glitch, it allows players to get an advantage in an online match by exploiting a bug with the equipment. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling announced via Twitter that the “fix currently in test. Once it's cleared, we'll be urging it through Microsoft & Sony certification as fast as possible.”
But anyone wanting to have some Modern Warfare-based explosion time will have to face severe punishment, as Xbox online boss Stephen Toulouse wrote on Twitter that, “while IW works on getting the MW2 glitch fixed, people we catch using it will receive suspensions from LIVE. Play fair everyone.”
Turns out that players don’t exactly want to have their glitchy fun revoked, as Toulouse later explains the announcement: “Using a glitch in a game to get an advantage is explicitly called out in the ToU. It's not like people are doing it by accident.”
Shortly after, he wrote, quite exhaustedly we’d imagine, “Wow some of you think cheating a glitch is ok. um.If I install my car stereo wrong and it disables my door locks, it's not ok to STEAL MY CAR.”

The fact you can get banned is bull. Yes it's annoying as hell but it's also funny. And what makes this worse than camping? Camping is crap way worse than some idiot running around blowing themselves up. I'd rather keep them and ban the campers because camping is just as bad you're not playing fair you're hiding and waiting for someone to come by so you can kill them.

This glitch is DEFINITELY worse than campers. Cos you see, campers mostl ikely suck at the game, while these people will kill you for 100% sure if you're not some faggot back-of-the-map-camper yourself... Besides, camping doesn't violate any rule, it's just a way for the most cowardly, sucky players to get a better score, because they give about their K/D a tad too much.

Matt... I'm sure you're a game designer. And i'm POSITIVE you've never missed one thing when you've designed these games. A person will never catch everything. Give me a break. Beta tests did happen with this game, but the sheer number of people that play this game... There's BOUND to be a problem. It's not huge, but yet really annoying. Almost as annoying as campers.

It's a nasty exploit, but it does restrict the cheat to knife combat only. It's quite satisfying to take out a cheat from distance and watch him explode, instead of just fall down.
I do however hope IW fix this asap, even if it means banning the weapon for the time being until they sort it fully.

how long MS will enforce the ban. Their pretty blind if they don't see the possible witch hunt they have created. Unless they are really checking who is glitching and who isn't, anyone could be falsely accused of glitching by some pissed off gamer with a personal vendetta.

i suggest a rather simple solution force friendly fire on all servers then its all settled hehejavalin glitch near friendlies takes down their score even if they get kills and for every 3 kills u can respawn for 3 mins hence most of the game

People are going as far as getting a mass petition for there cash back. IW Failed BIG TIME when releasing this crap! Far too many bugs, far too little admin control aka NONE and well there are less hackers in the Matrix than on iwnet atm.
Infinity ward are s**t and people are planning to ruin this game for everybody and i hope they do. Imagine 50% of online players using aimbot or wallhack? Chaos? Yes

A glitch is a glitch, cheating is cheating. You can't do anything about it, it's their software they will patch it. Stop whining and report people who depend on glitches to win because they can't build a decent perk set. Just stay at 70 and don't go to prestige if you are that desperate.

it's kinda dumb to ban someone for a glitch... and you can't compare getting kills in a video game due to a glitch to stealing a car due to leaving your door unlocked.
but you CAN say that you'd have to be extremely stupid to leave your doors unlocked. so does that mean that you'd have to be extremely stupid to mass produce games with a glitch that you could have easily fixed?
