Nimrod Antal’s brain-numbing heist movie, Armored, apparently showed up on the PlayStation store according to a report on Slashfilm. No big deal, you might think. Except the movie has still to leave theatres in the USA.
The movie was apparently up and down in a few hours. However, it does indicate two things: firstly that Sony's inter-divisional relationships are healthy if somewhat flawed in execution. Sony Pictures is quite definitely providing Sony Computer Entertainment with early content; too early.
Secondly, it shows that - with this early content - Sony Corp is definitely seeing digital delivery as central to its strategy. And the PlayStation Store is central to that.
Cock-up or test-run?
