Steam Beta Hints At Mac OS X Support
Valve launched a new Beta of its Steam platform for Windows PCs on Tuesday, bringing with it a range of funky new UI changes. Generating the most attention however, are hints that the Left 4 Dead developer could be adding Mac OS X support to the client.

The move from Microsoft's Internet Explorer and the adoption of a Webkit-based rendering engine had already raised suspicions. But hawk-eyed Steam forum members believe they have found substantial evidence of Apple support, after digging into the source code.

Images for Mac OS X window functions – such as the Zoom, Minimise and Close buttons – sit alongside images named “steam_cloudsync_osx.tga”, an icon for the operating system's dock and menu files.

It is believed that Valve is making a more concerted effort to support Macs, due to the latest Source engine apparently supporting the Apple hardware. Postal III will be using the Valve-created engine for release on Windows, Linux and Mac as well as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Are you waiting for a Mac OS X version of Steam? Would it make your day? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.

F**k yeah!! Steam is the best. Switching from using Windows to Mac made me lose Steam and that was absolutely terrible

This would be cool, even though their DRM pisses me off.
If you could buy some games with dual OS support, that
work on OSX or Windows, that would be even cooler.
