Disney Interactive has announced their latest action/adventure for the PC, Atlantis: The Lost Empire - Trial by Fire. The game is based upon the hit film, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and tells the tale of Captain Rourke and his exploration team as they venture deep into the Earth’s core.

Trial by Fire plays in a first-person perspective, in the same fashion as an FPS game, but the shooting and violence will, naturally, be taken out to suit a younger target audience.

The game covers a variety of genres, including platform, exploratory and puzzle aspects of gameplay. The graphics are rendered in real-time 3D, using the LithTech state-of-the-art game engine. Assorted gadgets, collectibles and a series of power-ups ensure a smooth, flowing challenge that keeps the player on their toes.

Disney has also created some original animation to tell the story, as well as incorporating some sequences seen in the film.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire - Trial by Fire is currently scheduled for an October 12th release in the UK, priced at £19.99.
