Super Street Fighter IV To Host Betting Contest
Super Street Fighter IV will be the first game to see a tournament held where punters can bet with bookmakers over the possible outcome.

Capcom will host a special SSFIV "heavyweight championship match" in London, pitting European Street Fighter 4 champ Ryan Hart against World Game Cup Cannes quarter-finalist Femi Adeboye. Bookmaker Paddy Power is backing the event, and placing odds at 1/3 for Hart as outright winner, and 2/1 for Adeboye.

Sure, Street Fighter tournaments happen all the time, but this time it's different. Because there's money involved, obviously, something nobody has clearly thought of before. You can bet your bottom quid that the bookmaker involved is excited at the prospects.

Paddy Power's communications director - also known as, er, Paddy Power - said that the success of this competition may open the books for similar events in the future. "Videogames are as much a legitimate sport as any other. We wanted to offer sports fans and games players the ultimate thrill by offering the chance to win big on the outcome of a Super Street Fighter IV competition."

The Paddy Power Super Street Fighter IV match takes place at 7pm on Thursday 29th April. Unfortunately the fight won't be broadcast on Sky Sports or anything, so you'll have to make do with the Paddy Power website, where the action will be streaming to. You can place your bets here.
