Microsoft and Tecmo have declared that Dead or Alive 3, the best selling Xbox game in Japan, has shifted a million copies around the world.

This news boosted Tecmo’s operating profits by 25% for this year and spurred the company to confirm a new Xbox fighter, featuring Dead or Alive characters for E3.

DOA3 is the second Xbox game to shift a million, after Halo quickly achieved that feat after launch. The news that another of its games has passed the magic million mark will serve as a boost to Microsoft’s somewhat beleaguered Xbox campaign and will give the machine a stronger foothold in the market.
