Atari reveals Kya: Dark Lineage

A project so well concealed, it’s news even to us!

10 Apr 2003

News reached us overnight regarding a top-secret project from Atari dubbed Kya: Dark Lineage. So under wraps that their PR reps don’t have any art or early screens to show us, it seems like we’ll have to wait until E3 for a first look at the game. However, we do know a bit abou the story.

Plunged into a mysterious world, Kya is on a quest to find her lost brother and a way back home. Along her journey of discovery, she encounters the Natives, a peaceful tribe, oppressed by the Wolfens, the menacing army of the evil Brazul. Kya must lead the rebellion of the Nativs for their freedom, and the only way is to master magical powers to liberate the Wolfens from their mystical imprisonment and restore their Native identity.

"Kya: Dark Lineage is a beautifully detailed product with unique gameplay aspects. The creative blend of highly-aesthetic environments coupled with a variety of character based scenarios makes this a unique experience not to be missed on the PlayStation 2," said Pascale Vermeerbergen, European Marketing Director.

"From the start, Kya has been meticulously developed from the ground up both in terms of character and story development, right down to the proprietary game engine," said Stephane Baudet, chief executive officer of Eden Studios. "Kya promises to be a game of epic magnitude and we are committed to delivering unprecedented gameplay to all fans of this genre."
