SCEJ emulator request to scupper one-generation PlayStation 3 backwards-compatibility?

You may have picked up recently that the PlayStation 3 will only feature backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 2, with the original PlayStation being discarded as obsolete.
There rumours were unfounded at the time, and a recent posting on Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s employment website would seem to underline that it’s simply not true.
The firm is looking for software engineers for an emulation program, believed to be a software-reliant emulator of PlayStation titles for PlayStation 3. Employee requirements include ‘Just In Time Compiler’ experience, as well as in-depth microprocessor knowledge.
We are hoping for more details on the PlayStation 3 to be announced by Sony in the next few months - hopefully all will be revealed soon.
