The week ending September 13 was a good week for the Xbox, as the platform achieved its first All Formats chart-topper in the shape of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The LucasArts game - an Xbox exclusive - has already outdone the mighty Halo in terms of first week sales. Halo, previously the fastest-selling Xbox game, never reached the top of the ELSPA/ChartTrack All Formats chart, peaking at number four. Other Xbox exclusives, Brute Force and Wolfenstein, reached Halo's number four position earlier this year, with Splinter Cell and Project Gotham Racing topping out at six and 10 respectively.

We say ‘Well done LucasArts’, but we have a feeling that The Old Republic won’t be there for long, as this week sees the release of Colin McRae Rally 04 on Xbox and PS2. Still, it was good while it lasted…
