According to a wealth of retailers across Europe, Doom 3 for Xbox has been given a release date of February 27, 2004, causing uproar across the globe.

The date, which indicates a release much sooner than expected, is currently showing across the board at retail.

However, speaking to Activision UK this morning, we were informed that, as of this moment in time, Doom 3 for Xbox will be released when it is finished, and there is no release date, prospective or otherwise, that has officially been given by id Software.

However, February 27 may very well be the launch date for the PC version, which is widely expected to hit before Easter of 2004.
