Polyphony Digital has underlined what everyone has really known all along. Except for that posh girl off the telly, cars are for boys: a fact confirmed forever, written in stone if you will, by the announcement of Gran Turismo For Boys.

At the GT press conference held in Tokyo earlier this week, Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that an offering for younger (male) gamers will go into production for PlayStation 2, based on the existing Gran Turismo 4 engine and model set. Explained Yamauchi, "I would like for young [male] kids to understand more fully the fun of cars. Using the entertainment power of games, we will be increasing the number of car lovers twenty years or so down the road. If we don't grow to love cars in youth, we become adults who are not interested in cars."

He further explained that the focus of the series is firmly on enabling (male) children to begin to understand how to love cars, as well as giving them an introduction into vehicle control and handling techniques.

To be launched at a budget price, Gran Turismo For Boys is likely to be a Japanese exclusive, though if a version for the milk-scented is released, we will of course let you know.

In other news, the release of Gran Turismo Mobile for the PSP was slated for spring 2005 in Japan. No mention of other territories was made.

Dude, they could do GT for Gurls too.

It would only feature Nissan Micras, VW Beetles, Corsas and Puntos.

And there would be NO reversing.

Or parallel parking.

It would however, require damage...

It would have been much better if they could have given away an online mode.
