Publisher Activision let slip to various US retailers over the last couple of days its plans for the Xbox version of Doom 3, the only console outing for the above-average and chronically over-hyped first-person shooter.

A release date of March 1st has been given to both GameStop and EBGames for the US. Right now, no European date has been offered, though a release within two weeks of the US version is thought likely.

More interesting is the Collectors’ Edition, which will include full versions of Ultimate Doom and Doom II, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a ‘storyboard’, and artwork galleries.

The XBox offering is set to included uprated content as standard over the PC original and recently announced Mac title, with cooperative mode over XBox Live! and competitive online multiplayer.
