Warning! Without Warning Screens
Capcom and CiRCLE Studio’s first joint offering yields new shots.
Posted 11 Apr 2005

Capcom released a selection of new screens today from the soon-come genre-straddling Without Warning, due for release on Xbox and PlayStation 2. We have all of them right here for you. Granted, there’s nothing terribly exciting going on in these new screens featuring two of the six playable characters – Kyle Rivers and Tanya Shaw - but it does give us the opportunity to give the game a mention. All that talk a week or so ago got us thinking about what the old Tomb Raider development team was up to, and Without Warning is it. CiRCLE Studio – mostly comprised of former Core Design-ers, and established by Core founders Jeremy Heath-Smith and Adrian Smith – has what reads like a ‘24-like’ game in the works. That’s ‘24-like’ as in Keifer Sutherland literally having a bad day, by the way.
An action/adventure/shooter/puzzler/personal shopper* set in a United States chemical plant seized by terrorists, the Without Warning story takes place over a 12-hour period, and allows players to experience the crisis situation through the eyes of six different characters – three covert-ops professionals and three civilians.
Without Warning is the first title to come from CiRCLE Studio, and the first game from a European developer to be published by Capcom. President of Capcom Europe, Hiroshi Tobisawa, commented, "As CiRCLE Studio's first title, Without Warning is momentous for both parties and complements Capcom's own internally developed product line. The staff at CiRCLE Studio has a successful track record and will deliver again with a new title that provides an innovative and intense gameplay experience." Let’s hope that they can recreate some of that early Tomb Raider magic, eh?
Without Warning is slated for release in the autumn.
*Genre not confirmed.
