SNK Playmore Japan has released a few screengrabs from the looming Metal Slug update, brilliantly titled Metal Slug 6. Not much to report on the play mechanic at time of press, though the game will be the first in the series to make the break away from the ancient 2D powerhouse that is the Neo Geo MVS board.

The new platform to house Metal Slug 6 will be Sammy’s Dreamcast-based Atomiswave board, the budget coin-op base that has spread like a particularly aggressive cancer across the arcade sector in the last couple of years.

SNK promises six playable characters, 25 weapons and an undisclosed amount of new vehicles, all set for a global release in November of this year. We’ll bring you hands-on impressions as soon as a cabinet lands in London.
