Gubernatorial Nazi laughed out of the primary poll.

It was brought to our attention earlier today, thanks to the guys over at Gamepolitics, that one of the Republican candidates for yesterday’s Texas primary, the 'so-far-right-it-hurts' Star Locke, had vowed to impose a 100% sales tax on violent games. Errr, right. Read on for some frighteningly dark insights into the underbelly of the American political far right.

Locke, it seems, had introduced this absurd election promise back in January of this year, with a paragraph that included the phrase, "... putting certain dangerous actions and dangerous products out of the reach of children thereby keeping our most precious blood-our children out of 'HARMS WAY.'"

This was in addition to a whole bunch of other crazy ideas the Reagan-loving, Muslim-hating, good ol’ boy had in his bag of ridiculous Nazi propaganda tricks. Star (real name Bobby) also wanted to impose a 50% tax on fried foods and soda pop.

What the..? However, after a brief perusal of Bobby’s website we soon realised the nature of the beast we were dealing with. If you want a never-before-seen insight into the mindset of the American far right then we urge you to have a look, as it’s perhaps one of the darkest things we’ve ever seen on the Internet.

We won’t go into too much detail, suffice to say that Bobby claims to have been one of the few Americans to have seen the devastation in Hiroshima. To quote directly from his biog:

As a child young Locke viewed many life-changing sites. Locke is one of the few people alive who actually witnessed with his own two eyes the actual Blast Site, all covered grey ash at "Ground Zero" in Hiroshima 6 months after the it happened. Bobby Locke remembers that he and his brother and sister were instructed by Major Locke to "Look at this....LOOK AT THIS AND NEVER EVER EVER FORGET IT AS LONG AS YOU LIVE. What your eyes are seeing here this day."

Perhaps the darkest element to Star’s mixed up racist political philosophy is his hatred of Islam. Nothing new in that you may say, although reada little of what he has to say here. Islam, according to Locke, is not a religion, it's evil, and a military enemy, and will only be satisfied when the entire world is bowing down to EVIL and the women are covered in black from head to toe.

Thankfully, Texan voters didn't buy in to Locke's program and the nutty construction company owner finished last in a four-candidate race, with just 3.6% of the vote. Which means there are still 25,000 Texans who bothered to go out and vote for him.

Seems that America’s loony right-wing militia is alive and well in Texas and spreading the word that soda pop, burgers and games - as well as those ‘rag-headed evil muslims’ - are the major threats to modern civilisation as we know it. Oh dear.

Feel free to post your thoughts on this in the forum. You might also be inspired to send your thoughts directly to Star via his website

Now Spong's going to tell us its wrong to be a right-wing nutjob. Thanks a lot.

Ok, this guy proposed something most people consider retarded, and it got rejected. Where's the problem? Oh yeah, we have to look into every single piece of information regarding this guy, for what? Did he actually do any harm to the industry or gamer's pockets? Don't think so.

I just think you guys have gone a bit over the top with this one.

This guy scares me and im a young republican(more precicely, i think all polaticians are psycho and i just have a rep. right whing biest). I started playing violent videogames when i was 7 (resident evil 2), almost 8 years ago, now look at me, the games that ive played today are as followed
Half-Life 2
Resident Evil 4
F.E.A.R.
God of War
Black
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

these games are all rated M and im not old enough to play a rated M game, but my parents truts me, so i do. According to this guy ill probably grow up to be a psychopathical murderer and i should have to pay more for the games, but im mentally stable so ill take the high road and order them off the internet tax free.

I think the point here is that this nutbar represents the extreme view of quite a lot of more moderate 'Mercans - Republicans, Democrats and those who don't give a s**t about party politics. 25000 Texans voted for him, which may not seem a lot, but if say 3-4% of each state's population would come out and vote for someone with this guy's views to be their GOVERNER (with a much higher percentage tacitly agreeing with his views, without being bothered to get up and vote) then where would we be?

His comments about violent videogames + all the other stuff about soda pop and junk food are of course on one level laughable. Much like many of Mr Bush's comments and Mr Blair's comments on The War on Terror, the need for Respect etc etc The only option is to name and shame people like this for making such stupid comments, and dig into their shady (racist) pasts to show them up for who/what they really are. To ignore their pasts because 'they are not really relevant to the current story/issue' would be poor journalism surely? Highlighting this nutjob's 'true colours' is surely the best way to show NON-gamers and those people who might even consider buying into such crackpot ideas that the guy should not be taken in any way seriously.

I find it slightly scary that you were playing Resident Evil 2 when you were 7. My personal opinion is that Resident Evil games are totally unsuitable for anyone under the age of 13 at minimum.

Indeed.

At 7 the sort of games I played involved running across a busy road to go skiing, negotiating an abandoned mine, or wandering around a hen-house collecting eggs... and even these terrified me.

Before I was 18 I had played mature games, watched mature videos, engaging in underage sexual activity, taken drugs and alcohol and probably done a whole load other things.

I regret that I lost my innocence so early and I regret doing pretty much every single one of those things before I was mentally ready for it (whether you ever are ready is another question). For everyone who plays resident evil at 7, no matter how many don't exhibit signs of being affected by the game only one has to flip before everyone comes crashing down on video games.

Specifically to tg0006, you and your parents may consider you to be mature enough to handle violent video games - that doesn't necessarily mean you are.
When me and my friends play gta too much and then go outside we're still stuck in the same frame of mind. We would find ourselves scoping out cars and the like. I'd consider me and my mates to be fairly well rounded adults, but we were like putty to that game. I'm not saying don't play these games, just be mindful that they will affect how you behave if you play them too much.

Oh and that star blokes commentry on Islam... if you get rid of the history parts about islam and insert Judaism or Christianity where relevant in his commentries- you'll find makes about as much sense (e.g. none whatsoever). thanks spong for bringing this to my attention, nice to know we've still got to be vigilent.
