I'm impressed. Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't going to be this good.

Innovative applications. I can see them now.

Well done, Nintendo.

The company does, however, have a real problem with making this sound good. The PR guys comments don't hold true. You can't play everything before buying.

You need to see this baby being used to fully appreciate where Nintendo have gone with this.

SPOnG, get that demo video up now !

what demo video; the one with all the people making an ass out of themselves, and we don't even see any game footage?

I'm a nintendo fanboy; I'm not impressed. I don't want to have to hack/slash/twist/flip....to play. I don't want Zelda to be affected, even though it will(slash pad to attack..)I don't want mario to be affected, even though it will(flick wrist to jump)...I'm scared...very scared

Looks pretty though.

I'm too gobsmacked to think properly at the moment. My first reaction was shock. Now it's Awe.
I just hope Nintendo make sure the consumer is educated about it's potential and don't alienate the hardcore and the casual/non gamer at the same time.
Don't forget the Rev uses GC controllers aswell so it's a dual input device covering traditional cross platform games and new Rev specific games.
Oh for a crystal ball.
And Mario 128.

Erm…

I f**king pissed myself when I first saw this. Then I was just disappointed. Bottom line: Whatever Nintendo showed was going to disappoint. I think the concept is amazing - And I certainly want to play Revolution more than anything else at TGS right now.

As to whether they’ll e able to shift it after PS3 and 360 has launched is another matter.

Bah! Humbug! Mamby pamby ding dong! The video of people making a tit of themselves shows exactly what the controller is about without having to read paragraphs of text.

It sounds like you're just upset about change. Snap out of it and trust Nintendo. No need to be scared.

On a related note, does anyone else think the analogue control addon makes it look like a multi-speed vibrator ?

People recognise the PlayStation 3 – it’s a PlayStation. It has a controller. Okay, it might be a poor one, but it’s a controller. Then you have Xbox 360. It’s an Xbox. It has a controller.

What kind of idiot said that ! Guess what .. it's a Nintendo it has a controller ! Nintendo is still much more of a household name than xbox and playstation, just go ask your mum.

I don't see why there should be any disappointment here, Nintendo have delivered everything they've promised, you can never say the same for sony and the hype they place on their gaming machines.

well well well
at first my jaw nearly hit the ground.the revolution was a tv remote.but then i relised the possibilties and will definatley be getting a revo.the fact that dissapointment was inevitable dosent change the fact that nintendo have now introduced the philosphy that we will no longer play games,we are the games.
SPOnG dont to be so impressed but just wait until u r aloud access to the revo and games.i think, nah,i know u will change your opinion.(even though i got BCC in my Alevels, sorry im a crap speller)

For those who have negative comments to make on a device simply because you have no clue what and how the controller will be use... you need to relax and watch the promo video. I am very impress with the technological aspect of the remote/controller and endless ways it can be used.

NEED I REMIND YOU GUYS... THE REVOLUTION ALSO COMES WITH PORTS FOR GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS. HELLO!!!!
SO YOU HAVE MULTIPLE WAYS OF PLAYING GAMES.
SWEET!!!

Btw, the Gamecube pad will not be able to be used with revolution games, Iwata stated that; however, a vast majority of my fears have now been allayed:

'Eurogamer: How is the controller going to work with games that aren't designed specifically for the Revolution - multi-platform titles and so on?

Jim Merrick: We're producing a classic-style expansion controller, based on traditional designs like the Gamecube controller. It's like a shell with a hole in the top into which you slot the freehand-style controller, and then you can play third-party ported games, and retro Nintendo games you've downloaded. '

I'm looking forward to playing FPS games and trying some other games out with this, but I just don't like the idea of slashing around like an idiot to attack in zelda. Ah well, now to sometime in 2006, when we will have our own mitts on it!!

I'll probably get either a XB360 or PS3 (certainly not both), just to play the latest GTA/Burnout/RE, but both have failed to show anything remotely approaching innovation so far; so I'm actually pleased with Ninty's concept. 3 dimensional analogue control might not be truly revolutionary as a concept, but I've yet to play a game that's applied it well and really wow'd me.

And regarding it alienating the masses, who are used to a standard console with D-pad/ analogue-stick/ X, Y, A, B buttons: From a sterile "business" perspective, what other option did Ninty have? If they'd've just done another GC, they'd be f**ked. They may be dominant in the handheld market, but there's no way they have the same brand as PS now, nor do they have the empty pockets of M$. So they have to persuade the public that what the Revo has is something truly brilliant, and, well, revolutionary. Get some demo pods out in Virgin MS, Game, HMV etc. and actually show what it can do.

I truly applaud Ninty's bold approach, and I hope they pull it off. If it lives up to it's potential, I'll definitely be snaffling one up.

How will this work with emulated N64 games (let alone SNES titles), like Zelda, that use A, B, C (all directions), L, Z, start and an analogue stick. Even if they patch it to allow for moving the controller itself for sword movement, I don't see how it will map alll the rest of the buttons, I smell controller revisions. Apart from that I can see it allowing intuative natural gameplay, well done nintendo.

Don't tell me "but you could use the GC pad!" because that's supposed to be optional I'd rather have one controller for one system.

It's funny how Spong, which tend to think relatively so highly of Nintendo, is now bashing the company because they simply can't understand how the controller works, and how it can be a pottential market shaker.

I don't care how much hype was built up over time, or how awkward it seemed the first 5 minutes after I saw that blurred pic at IGN; the point is, that console is f**king beautiful, it will wow anyone upon grabbing hold of the controller, won't be annoyingly overpriced, and will turn the industry on it's back.

What? The Revolution will lose to the XBOX 360 and PS3? How is that? I mean, sure, Sony has the Playstation brand down everyone's throat now, and it's hard to change that. But XBOX? Puh-lease. Only fat americans actually play it, and even the 360 looks too bulky and still aimed squarely at gamers or random MTV-watching idiots. Not to mention nobody in Japan will buy one. Nintendo has a huge reputation worldwide, and although it's worn off a bit due to Sony's success, they're going into heaps of effort to try to make playing games fun again. Wasn't this what most of us were asking for?

What the hell is the matter with you people? Why is it that half the so-called Nintendo fanbase hates the new controller? It's just pathetic. Get yourselves an XBOX and stop the moaning.
