That's why i rather stick with Mac OS, i wish a system ran off Mac, it would be awsome . . . until then PS3 will have to do (once i get one)

Sadly, there was a Mac OS based game system, but it quickly tanked. It was called the Pippin. You can still find it on Ebay occasionally, but there weren't many games made for it. I would like to see them take a new shot at making one though, or releasing a version of OSX for the PS3 or something (since there were rumors of that ages ago).

My premium xbox 360 used to make those noises. I dont know what causes tham but the idiots at the service centre looked at the console 3 times and still didnt fix it. I just ended up taking it back and getting a new one.
I am currently on my third Xbox 360 console

Where on God's green Earth did you hear that Windows is scalable? You don't know what scalable is. Windows is probably the least scalable of Solaris, AIX, HPUX, Linux, *BSD, OS X. Go look at some high end Sun or IBM equipment for examples of scalability.

I'm not bringing Linux into this talk because it is obviously a far superior system... and thats exactly why apple decided to use it. As far as I know, which is admittedly limited in this particular topic, osx runs on apple desktops and laptops, and the current version of it only runs on apple computers made in the past like 4/5 years. There was a clean hardware break where they said, if you want the new os, you need to buy the new hard ware. I think it was a great mopve as it aloud them to completely redesign the core of it around Lin/Unix to make a much more secure and stable environment. Not to mention that it has only been for about those same 5 years or so that mac have accepted third party parts of any kind in the form of video cards and later sound. Windows has to run on basically every hardware configuration possible. By trying to make it to so many things for so many people while maintaing all the old functionality that a lot of people dont use, they have no built a huge ugly cluster f**k of an operating system that desperatly needs to be completley thrown out. That being said I still feel they have done an admirable job considering they are basicaly trying to build a sky scrapper in a bog. Vista isnt fantastic, but tis pretty good ALL THINGS considered.

Windows is NOT on your pocket PC.

Pardon my exaggeration, i know that windows 20xx is not the same OS, I knoew its built on old windows CE and i release the drastic difference. Though there is still a fair bit of shared underlying code between them i believe.

What is your definition of a petabyte server, and where did you find one running Windows? It sure as heck isn't one PB of storage on a single Windows server. OH, maybe you meant a Windows cluster with a PB or more storage. How many puny X86 boxes would be needed to process that much data?

Again, i was referring more so to clusters than a single box(flaire for exaggeration) yes and i also realize windows server is not windows xp. I've used both a great deal. I will also say again that while they have soem varied feature sets the same general base exists for both. I believe the main difference, and correct me if i'm wrong, is that server, unlike xp, doesnt have all the directX stuff shoe horned into it from the consumer side of things. Much like the good old dual boot days of NT/98.

At any rate, vista is designed to work on everything from a cheap ass 200 dollar e-machines PoS that soem grandma is using to check email and look up recipes to a raided out multicore/multi proc media serveing game beast to a network server and all points in between. All without the clean hardware break apple afforded them selves.

Further more, the OS built into the xbox 360 is not only very nicely designed and easy to navigate but is very stable runs a great many different types of applications flawlessly. Its the joy of being able to make an OS for a limited number of hardware configurations.

My only point really being that the statement that people shouldn't be surprised by hardware failures from a software company is silly. They have some of the best software designers in the world working there. And it's not like they are actually manufacturing the hardware themselves. They are probably just as pissed if not more so than the consumers about these failures and I would assume are trying to fix them post haste. Most of them seems to occur early on int he consoles life which means MS is fixing/replacing a great number of these things. something I'm sure they don't enjoy as they are already loosing money on each sale of the console to begin with.

BSOD=dead xboxs is retarded. Sony has an insane markup on their pc's and tv, yet looses a ton on the ps3. Also sonys media players have horrible software, their MD players are all drmed to s**t and and are a completely proprietary screw. The ps3 allows for any old laptop hard drive and multiple kinds of memory cards and bluetooth wireless not to mention the ability to run linux on the thing where as the xbox has proprietary memory cards and wireless that screws over 3rd party developers. While some things obviously cross over, for the most part the different branches aren't run by the same people and don't directly affect each other.

Man I ramble on a bit don't I...

Yes you are! ;)

"I have found the code quality, at least in terms of security, to be much better overall in Vista than Mac OS X 10.4. It is obvious from observing affected components in security patches that Microsoft’s Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) has resulted in fewer vulnerabilities in newly-written code. I hope that more software vendors follow their lead in developing proactive software security development methodologies."

Listen to it closely. You'll notice a "clak" sound after it "sounds" like it's straining to play the CD. Neone no what that is?

Why not actually save your money and swallow your pride by getting a ps3 after it broke the first time you tard. You would have saved money. LMFAO

P.S. I have both and xbox 360 broke in 2 days. Ps3 is now 4 months old and still running strong. Plus blu-ray is f-ing amazing. Microsoft blows and vista bombed. Accept it.

On the topic of the original article, the Elite shares the same DVD drive as all other 360's so any issues there are bound to be found across the line.

Main gripe for me is Rainbow Six freezing up infrequently, but I understand this is a universal complaint.
