Games encouraging violent behaviour? Not a chance as Resi 4 chainsaw controller revealed
As the debate between the games industry and the conservative right rages over the social and behavioural impact of violent videogaming on children, Capcom has signed Nuby Tech to put the matter to rest, launching the replica chainsaw controller for GameCube.

To be, of course, compatible with Resident Evil 4, the chainsaw controller features a sound chip that emits either A: soothing whale music blended with Tibetan chanting or B: A really loud chainsaw noise when the chainsaw sections of the game are in progress.

Go on Capcom!!!

This is going to be so much fun to play, and i would only think that this may be a Gamecube exlusive only, but I may be wrong as Capcom are being only more generous to PS2 and X-Box these days, sigh...............

Yet another dumb idea by capcom. really..how many will they sell ? 4,000 ? how many copies of resident evil 4 on GC will they sell ? judging from all the other titles..maybe a million outside of Japan. The series is stale and keeping it exclusive to teh cube was a huge mistake. that's why Capcom has not been profitable for the last few years. combine that with crappy megaman games, and no NEW and innoaive titles..spells doom.

Well, before you go having a go at Capcom, read the bit where it says Nuby Tech have made this controller. As to your other comments, Capcom have mainly been making losses on their PS2 games, whilst their Gamecube games have been selling above predictions.

Well said about Capcom's PS2 sales, Yen. RE Outbreak sold terribly while Viewtiful Joe shifted loads when it was just an experimental GC title. VJ is getting money back for Capcom, so much so that it has it's own anime series, and not even RE has that. The dud RE films may have kiled RE interest perhaps. Dunno.

I believe the PS2 is so competitive now, that Capcom are getting squeezed a bit. New blood games are what they needed and Viewtful Joe is just that. Nice to see the GC get something cool. I'd bag one for novelty if not game use, also bag a sky mask and it'd be great for halloween. LOL.

Conservative right complaining about video game violence? I do recall Democrat (LEFT) Joseph Lieberman being involved in past efforts to reduce video game violence.

Anyway, I wouldn't buy that controller unless the whole game was a chainsaw game and the controller actually acted as a "lightgun".

No new and innovative titles? Heard of Clover Studios at all? Viewtiful Joe was new and innovative. Killer 7 is new and innovative (or did you think it was the sequel to Killer 6?) Okami is new and innovative too.
