Unreal Technology reveals enhanced graphical prowess

Fresh Images powered by Unreal 3 Engine

Posted by Staff
Unreal Technology has issued new images created using its upcoming Unreal 3 engine, and they are looking suitably impressive. The Unreal 3 engine will be under the bonnet of many PC games on the horizon, so the raw power it brandishes spells good things for the future.

This particular batch of screenshots, ahem, illuminates our appreciation of Unreal 3's new dynamic lighting effects, which are undeniably delightful. The detailed and rich textures are also worthy of praise.

Expect to see the likes of Unreal Championship 2, Shadow Ops: Red Mercury, Pariah and Tribes Vengeance fully flexing Unreal 3's muscular engine later on in the year and beyond.

Oof, incorrect. Unreal Engine 3 will not be appearing "under the bonnet of many PC games on the horizon," especially not the ones mentioned (those are using Unreal Engine 2/2x). It has been widely publicized in interviews with Epic, and on their technology web site, that Unreal Engine 3 is targeted for 2006.

These aren't fresh screenshots at all! They're just small screencaps from the E3 movie which was released online weeks ago:
