Seven controllers!! Seven!

No more multi-tap!!

No more multi-tap!!

In your face Microsoft!! Who has only four controllers in the wireless age?

Note: I fully understand the double-standard inherent in my posting, what with Sony sticking with two ports for ages!

I think this is simply a case of Sony wishing to be consistent.

The PS3 is 1.8 times as powerful as the Xbox360 (based on CPU terraflops). So they presumably wanted it to have 1.8 times as many wireless controllers. And 1.75 was a close as they could get.

I decided I would try to drink until the controllers looked good. Five in, I decided to just drink because the controller looks so bad.

The PS3 is huge and won't fit anywhere on my shelves horizontially. Vertically, yes.

The controller.. that's why I like third party controllers. -_- Can't wait to see what Logitech does for it.

I think the main think is the price. Sony did not announce a price. Considering the massive heft behind this system, expect it to be the most expensive of the three. The Nintendo Revolution looks like it clocks in at $199.99 at launch. Xbox 360 looks tl clock in at least $249.99 and the PS3... I don't expect them to launch it for anything less than $299.99 to $349.99

The fact that a price cut for the PSP was not announced makes me sad.

dude, announcing one would make Sony sadder still. Imagine losing not an arm and a leg on each one sold, but also the dangly parts.

Thanks for settling something I have been thinking about for ages... Why PS2 had 2 controller ports and Xbox had 4.... Still Playstation fanboys always
said that PS" and Xbox were about equal.

Dude, even for the hard of understanding that doesn't take much thinking about.

Either you have more than one friend (imaginary ones don't count) and you are too poor to afford a Multi-Tap in which case Xbox rox yr wurld.

Or (like me) you do not have more than one friend, or are rich enough to afford a multi-tap (like me), in which case, PS2 has more and better games, and isn't made by evil corporate scum.

And how do we fit 7 players on a screen?

That, is silly.

Twin HDMI output. Bit expensive, but two high-def screens running at 1080p should be enough room for seven players.

My problem is getting a room large enough for two HD displays and seven people!!

I REALLY don't see the PS3 costing anything near what anyone will want to spend on it. If you go by what the GPU and CPU would cost right now alone then you would see yourself coming in above $1,000. Now that's a hefty tag for just those components. I don't really see Sony losing that kind of money on a console, and I realize that the components will drop in price before it's released. Even still when the system goes into full on productions I can't imagine their prices will go down significantly. Add to these two facts that they have bluetooth built in which is pretty costly and most of all the BlueRay disk drive. Does anyone remember when VHS was introduced, or how about DVD? Well, here's a quick recap: When a new video format is introduced the hardware for a customer would be VERY expensive. How expensive? Well, I was reading Dealerscope, a custom retailer magazine in the states and HD-DVD players are going to cost from $1,000 and above, just like VCRs and DVD players when first introduced to the market. So how much is this damn machine going to cost us!?! I think it's either that question we need to ask ourselves, or where are Sony planning on preverbially rapping us on hardware/software costs? No HDD included, which will limit support from developers(see also PS2 HDD add-on) and the other HUGE part I see as a problem is the online portion of Sony's gameplan. Is it just me or did they not have a plan again...the only thing they had was a clip of a world connected, but how?! I don't care who you are, you've got to see some things wrong here, does anyone other than me see a huge problem with a system that's not even that much more powerful putting out graphics that look so much better? Can anyone here say PRE-RENDERED? Ok, that's good because I'd be willing to bet any of you that everything show for the PS3 was just that, renders of what the games COULD look like, kind of like the emotion engine for the PS2. Besides, why would anyone have anything other than an alpha kit for the PS3 when it's still a year away, Microsoft still has their Alpha kits out. That said, Sony's just talking s**t to prevent people from jumping the fanboy ship...granted they did a great job, but I don't trust them.I for one am going to be getting the X360 for the time being.
