Real-Time Playstation 3 Demos Within Weeks?

nVidia showing likely to see SCE piggyback.

Real-Time Playstation 3 Demos Within Weeks?
Perhaps the most impressive showing at this year’s Electronics Entertainment Expo, held last month in Los Angeles, were the PlayStation 3 technical demonstrations offered by Sony, though perhaps not for the right reasons.

Microsoft and Nintendo were both livid at what they hinted was a disingenuous showing by the consumer electronics giant, with even Mr Nice Guy himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, saying, “Most of what you're seeing are not even the first projections of games. They're just shiny computer graphics. They're things anyone using a computer can do.”

However, it looks as though a more tangible glimpse of what the future might hold is just around the corner, with industry nose-tappers forecasting a PlayStation 3 showing on June 21 at nVidia’s event to unveil its new GPU.

You see, the G70 is, according to nVidia, the basis of the GPU it will deploy in Sony’s PlayStation 3 console presumably at some point next year. So even if we don’t get to see actual PS3 branded real-time graphics, we should get the clearest indicator of projected final quality to date.

SPOnG will of course, keep you updated.

I'm most surprised by Nintendo and Microsoft being surprised that Sony clearly is up to its old tricks again. Don't they remember PS2 launch???

The PS2 launch? When they showed lots of tech demos that have been surpassed using the PS2 hardware?

Yeah but they REALLY need to try this time! They have a REAL contender this time! And honestly, the prerendered stuff is kind of what I was expecting. If that's not going to be the case, then Sony and Microsoft are f**kin' assholes for lying to us about there impressive specs. I want to see real time demos, solid line-ups, and the innovations of the new gaming age, not specs. Specs are s**t, proven so my X-Box's lackluster first year and half.

Well well well, looks like Spong was caught in another BS story. Gamespot once again shows that Spong is worthless to even listen to. If you go to gamespot.com, they posted new rumors and one being this story of real time demos that Spong made and Gamespot says they are full of s**t.

Whatever dude, then don't go to Spong. It's funny how you bitch that Spong is always posting bunk stories but you still read them and post about how horrible they are in the forums. I might add that Spong was the first out of the gate with 360, 3, and Revolution pictures, and numerous other stories as well. So it's only natural that a few news articles are misinformation. The next time you tell your friends how great your (insert next gen console of choice) is by misinforming them, I'll be there (hiding in a bush of course) to honk my horn of misinformation in your ear, throw my pie of misinformation at your face, and shove my hot poker of misinformation up your ass!

I do think it's nice that they refer to us as "RC Special Guest Star" - it shows that even if they use us as the basis for their own editorial, they do read us. Also kudos to them for getting the capitalisation correct on SPOnG, something most other sites seem unwilling to try.

However, the implication of the "What we heard" section seem to be that other sites have read our headline and taken that as their starting point for rumours of their own.

But, SPOnG's sensationalist headline "Real-Time Playstation 3 demos within weeks?" sets off a rumor firestorm that Nvidia have a working PS3 (or at least an emulator) at the event.

Surely other sites would only be involved in a "rumour firestorm" if they thought we had an inside view of what would be shown?

Lets face it, we wouldn't get as much attention to the story if we had the headline "NVIDIA to show new GPU" would we?

Indeed.
