More Bizarre Creations Bragging - Deserved

Project Gotham Racing 3 developer dusts off own trumpet

Posted by Staff
It wouldn’t be the first time. In the run up to the release of a new console, many claims are made, and all at the expense of the players when they find out they’ve been lied too. Posted up on the Bizarre Creations website, we find a refreshingly opposite revelation, as the PGR3 developer ups the ante once again in the run up to the release of their Xbox 360 launch title.

Those chaps at Bizarre have quite a knack of using their website to generate enthusiasm. Previous postings include the 4926 screenshots which we reported back in July. Now they proudly report that the enormous polygon count – 80,000 per car – that they have previously touted is a little bit wide of the mark. An average figure of 96,000 is more realistic, with cars like the Mclaren F1 topping out well above 100,000 triangles. That’s ten times more than the count per car in the still very good looking Project Gotham Racing 2, where the average was about 10,000. And PGR3 has damage modelling too, which will add an extra 10 – 20,000 polygons every time you give your car a bit of a prang.

Well, their little bit of stirring has had the desired effect. Having not thought about PGR3 for a nearly a whole week we’re breathless with anticipation once again. Feel the same way? Reassure us in the forum below.

Don't know about the rest of you, but Project Gotham Racing 3 is THE launch title for the Xbox 360 as far as I'm concerned. I have been a fan of the series ever since it was known as Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, and each and every time Bizarre Creations have delivered!

Something I'd like to see in PGR3 is the return of the "real-time-of-day" element present in MSR - if you played the game in the afternoon it would be night in Tokyo, and the game would reflect that!
