New Devil May Cry Update Only Gets US Release

European gamers definitely 'Will Cry'

Capcom have today announced the forthcoming release of an update to their PS2 staple, the Devil May Cry series. The updated game will only be released in the US.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition is being released in the US under Sony's 'Greatest Hits' budget collection at an RRP of $19.95. The game boasts “unrelenting, hard-core gothic action” (?!) with “fresh new character design”. Lead character Dante appears younger, but still has his stylish swagger and rock star good looks. He's SPOnG’s kinda guy. (No, we are not gay, we just like pretending that we are rock stars with stylish swaggers and massive swords).

SPOnG can happily advise any fans of hardcore gothic action of a few useful and free websites which also provide similar kind of action. However, we may well have misunderstood Capcom's original meaning of the phrase, so we'll stick with news on Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition for now.

New features include a new, imaginatively titled, Very Hard mode and a turbo option that increases the game's speed by 20%. The Special Edition also boasts a new playable character and a new boss character. Players can play as Dante's evil twin brother, Vergil, with his own unique 'Dark Slayer' fighting style or face up to the new 'Jester' enemy – a character previously featured only in cut-scenes.

Unfortunately, the game is only scheduled for release in the US, so those European Devil May Cry fans will have to wait till the next full instalment in the series. Either that, or go get this Special Edition version on import when it comes out on January 24.

Dude, I was always lead to believe that if you have a very big sword (which can, I think, lead to a stagger if not a swagger) it can be impossible to use it in Very Hard Mode, because of lack of blood to the brain, or something.

Maybe that's just a medical myth. Or maybe Viagra has made this all possible.
