iPhone/iPod Touch Top 30 Million
Just in case you were in any doubt that the iPhone was a good way for devs to make money: Apple's senior VP of iPhone software, Scott Forstall, stated at the company's event showing off its upcoming OS 3.0 that, as of last December, 17 million iPhones had been sold. Throw in a further 13 million iPod Touch sales and the total audience for apps jumps up to 30 million after just 21 months of sale.

That compares to 50 million PSPs sold in over five years and 100 million DSes shipped in the same period.

More facts: the iPhone SDK has been downloaded over 800,000 times. On top of that, Apple says that over 50,000 people are participating in its iPhone developer program.

The App Store now hosts more than 25,000 apps and has seen more than 800 million downloads.

But all 50/100 milion PSP/DS ownes bought them for games. iPhone owners - not so much. Ibarely play gaes on mine, and when I do there are loads of free games which means I've only splashed the cash for Monkeyball.

So why not cover quality pocket gaming, PSP, Itouch, and the best game phones?
