Happy days! Turns out Left 4 Dead 2 won't be banned from sale in Australia after all, following an MA 15+ classification from the Australian Classification Board.

Granted, it is an edited version that Valve submitted to get the rating. But at least our Antipodean friends will get some ridiculous zombie blasting action in now. Don't despair though, because a Valve spokesperson said that they have the original version waiting in the wings, just in case the Aussie authorities have a change of heart come November.
