Exclusive: Resident Evil 4 confirmed for Xbox
At the annual games industry drinking competition that is the Golden Joystick Awards, held last night in fashionable London town, someone after perhaps a few too many shandies let slip to SPOnG that Resident Evil 4, the former GameCube exclusive, will be making its way to Xbox following the revelation last week that a PlayStation 2 version is underway.

"Resident Evil 4 will also be coming out on Xbox. About the same time as the PlayStation 2 release in just short of a year's time," we were told, confirming our news from earlier this week that additional versions will not see the light of day for a considerable amount of time.

And that's about all we have unfortunately. Though we pressed for further information, nothing was offered. Great news for Xbox gamers though, with the latest, and arguably best game in Capcom's acclaimed zombie series augmenting the console's already impressive third-party portfolio.

Sounds great, but I dont Know if I can wait ONE entire year more, I was going to buy a game cube this winter to play this game, I dont know if I can deal with this long waiting, I gess I`ll finish buying that little Nintendo box.

Are you kidding me? In a year, everyone will be making with the release dates for the new systems. This is a killer-ap for the Cube, and simply old good news near the end of the X-Box and PS2's life cycles.

Go ahead & find yourself a copy of Eternal Darkness as well. Its a fantastic game.

I have to say though that Capcom pissed me off with the way they're handling this. I do own all 3 systems, but I just don't like the lack of respect this shows. Its not so much losing exclusivity, but that they didn't wait to announce it. Common practice is to wait until after the launch of the lead platform in cases such as this (losing exclusivity).

Are you serious? I'm much happier knowing that I can wait for an Xbox version now - it's not like there's nothing else out, and now I know that I don't need to buy this game for my least favourite console. I hate it when a game comes out elsewhere after being billed as an exclusive.

Dude, did you even read the story? SPOnG were told this by someone who'd had a few too many drinks at Golden Joysticks. The reason IGN and Gamespot haven't said anything is that they don't even know it yet.

And this isn't an official Capcom informations release, it's an exclusive tid-bit that someone blurted when they were drunk... There isn't likely to be an official for ages yet.

If this is true it's a good day for Xbox owners. I'm sure Xbox will do a much better job of it that the PS2 (I'm not Sony bashing, it's just tech spec facts). But I could just as easily and humbly eat my words on the PS2 front, Capcom are a well talented company and DMC is looking superb.

MS are rubbing their hands if true, first Rare and Bungie and now this.

I wouldnt include RARE on that list though, hardly a glut of triple A titles coming from them.

Good news indeed for XBox owners and the console in general. Its s good predidtion for the future that the XBox will see more titles in the next generation. A year behind is bad though as im sure anyone who wants to play it will do on the Gamecube.

OK, maybe not Rare.

I think a lot of folk won' bother waiting a whole year to play RE4, which should have been out this year. And with Nintendo shifting GC for 80 quid or so with Mario Kart, GC is a bargain with RE4 on the horizon.

There's also the fact that Xbox and PS2 will be on teir way out by that time RE4 reaches them. By that time loads of people will be selling up their PS2s etc.

Well, that's a pity. I frankly don't like Xbox. PS2 - ok, Xbox - annoying.

But I would still personally maintain that most Resi fans would still buy a Cube and get it early - and get 0.

I agree with the previous poster, that with Cubes just £80 now with a game and with so many other great games at the moment and to be released in the near future a Cube is a must-own.

And now Capcom have stated that no other platform releases of Resi 4 are definite. So only GC and PS2 version have been officially announced.

Whoever was blurting out in a drunken rage was clearly either jumping the gun, or talking utter poop.
