Metal Gear Solid 4 Next-Gen Timelines conundrum
It looks like everything is going to change at Konami Towers' Metal Gear Solid dungeon, with series lead Hideo Kojima stepping down and the next-generation of development kits being shipped in.

Speaking at the Berlin premier for the game, Kojima-san outlined the fact that the next game in the smash hit series would be created for next-generation platforms. It was also outlined that the famed producer would be taking less of a hands-on role, shifting across to executive producer.

This opens the door to long-time assistant Kenichiro Imaizumi. Although his name is less catchy, it is believed that Imaizumi-san has been instrumental in pushing the astoundingly deep movie elements of the franchise. “The team wants to feature a fresh and intriguing storyline and gameplay, plus captivating graphics and more game features while remaining true to the core of the MGS series - remaining Solid,” commented the new series producer.

It is thought likely that the team will be aiming to get Metal Gear Solid 4 prepped for as close to the launch date of the PlayStation 3 as humanly possible. Though with the Xbox 2 launching so soon, it’s unlikely that a version will be available for the Microsoft machine with any expediency. However, it is a well known fact that Microsoft has been extensively courting Konami for an exclusivity agreement for some time, with the Metal Gear series flagged as number one on the wishlist.

Who knows maybe Hideo Kojima is stepping down because he might join MS for the XBOX 2 like all majorly popular Japanese game makers have been doing recently. I have a weird feeling thats whats going down. Can you imagine if all those game designers make one game? that would sell XBOX2's like crazy. ahhh the smart folks at Microsoft are some cleaver cats.

I love Microsoft (so what I said it)

If they made it the size of a PS2 you'd all buy one.

Oh, and if it wasn't Microsoft.

There is a problem I have with Konami even though I love their games and MGS series and that's this exclusivity bull. Konami are being left looking a little foolish next to the likes of Capcom who spread more of their product to more formats.

MGS4 is welcome but I think that Konami should try and revive some of their other older series we haven't seen any extensions to for years. Stuff like Snatcher and Policenauts would be welcome on the DS if not totally new games. I'd like to see a Thundercross 3D update to convinvce those who don't favour Gradius side scrolling antics.

As for MGS series perhaps a side story option would be an idea for different next gen formats, maybe even all new adventures featuring Meryl or Mei Ling as the main characters.

I'm sick and tired of those stupid revival games. Its time that people use original IDEAS damn it. OMG I am soo freaking tired of,"Lets remake this and re do this or re release this" Make something new!!!!!!!

NO MORE MGS its dead enough already. Try making a new property that is just as good or better than that. Its time to grow, staying in the same hole and not moving out is ruining gaming. People with orginal ideas that sell is what matters, something like burning rangers, or JSRF, or something like the eyetoy. You know radically diffent approches to gaming. I like to be amazed when I play, I want flashy graphics, deep storylines and memberable moments. If they need a person to show them how its done just give me a ring I will give you all tips (refuring to game makers).
