Is this Project Gotham 360?

The Colony throws up a left front wing.

Posted by Staff
SPOnG stumbled upon this rather intriguing image courtesy of Microsoft’s really rather wonderful viral marketing drive, Our Colony which looks very much like the front wing of a Ferrari 360. Identical, in fact.

This leads us to believe that there is likely a connection between the site, dedicated to the upcoming new Xbox 360 console, and its launch flagship racer Project Gotham Racing 3, a game already confirmed as being well under way at Bizarre Creations.

As you will have heard by now, you won’t have to wait until E3 to discover the mysteries of the Xbox 360, with a pre-show MTV unveiling announced just yesterday. Given the profile of PGR3 and its confirmed status, SPOnG expects the game to be shown in some detail, with Halo 3’s appearance likely to be held off as a show-stopper for Microsoft’s conference.

We did wait overnight with this image to see if perhaps it was one of a series, though nothing further was offered. To keep you updated, the Our Colony hunt is currently digging through the lyrics and titles of the Chemical Brothers album Push the Button. Really.

Awsome - i can't wait to play exactly the same racing game as PGR 1 and 2 but with improved graphics... seriously they're going to have to do something better than improve the graphics engine to get me even a little excited.

nice slick car, but c'mon, 3x3ghz processors and the crowd still look like cardboard cutouts!!

Hmm, if the performance hike I got from moving from a single P-II to a dual P-III is anything to go by 3 x 3GHz should be about 1.2 x as fast as 1 x 3GHz.

Yeah but your PC isn't setup to take full advantage of both processors. The games on the next generation will be so ya should get a better performance boost.

At least this version will have a crowd. In 1 and 2 it's like racing through the streets in ghost towns. They do look a bit flat and cutout... maybe that is just an affect... blurring as you are racing past?

Can't wait to see it running!

they probably are card board cut outs but they are the damn nicest cut outs i have ever seen... and there seem to be multiple layers of them... its a tough call between driving pasta very nice lookign cardboard cut out audience and driving past the cast of katamari darmacy... sure they coudl spend a fe polygons on the crowd (and with displacment mappign make them looking pretty sweet) but its probably better to go the cut our route as far as "photo realism" is concerned. Actually an animated card board cut out crowd with a nice displacment map coudl look better than a fully rendered crowd and be alot less strain on the processor... hmmmm... i gotta call the patent office :P

That's not what Microsoft said in Windows 2000 "please love us" blurb. They said it would be so fast it would singe my eye brows. Or tedious marketing lies to that effect.

i had a 450 mhz intel when i was rendinring out my cg final my sophmore year of college... i ended up using my friends dual 450 for the actual batch render and i tell you that it tore(sp?) ass... for most aplicatiosn the difference is barely noticable... but something proc specific that is designed to use multiple chips (liek maya) really did make a huge difference. Only reason i got it done in time really. Also i tell you as someone who need an nt based system 2000 was a dream come true... i got tto play quake 3 and do my work and not have to run the damn dual boot... i pitty the foo' who dont love win2k!

To be fair to GT4 they are very nice shinny cars and nice shinny tracks to.

Just bought it the other day and have been playing it constantly since. After hating GT3, GT4 is a huge improvement. They have obviosly put a lot of effort into the controls this time around.

But the one thing that still and always has annoyed me about GT is still present :(

That damned interface! It's s**te! When entering a race why can't I choose the car I want to drive then and there? Why do I have to go back to my garage and change to that car? And why can't it just show me the events that I can enter in the cars i have got? It s**t and annoys me sooooo much and is such hard work to use :(

Not what i'd call User Friendly

im sure it is an awsome game.. havent tried it.. my friend is actually gringing it over tonight... i got the hdtv and hes got the ps2... very interested to see it running in 1080i (boggles my mind that they managed to make that work!)... but it doesnt really add anything different to the game... its basically just more of the same... just like pgr1&2&probably 3... except that 2 and 3 are both playable on line ;)

i persoanl probably wont buy pgr... not my kidn of game... i like out run and burn out and ridge racer... PGR is still to realistic for my likeing... speaking of ... next gen burn out.... ohhh man... i hope they throw peopel in those cars! woudl make for a very different game having rag doll bodies go sailign threw windshields! be great in a head on... get a slwo mo replay of two people comming through their windshields and then their bodies smashing into each other in mid air... they woudl never do it... but man would that sell like blintz's!

Completly forgot it was in HD! Will have to move my PS2 into my room and hook it up to my LCD =)

I think you might be supprised with GT4, it's a lot easier to play than GT3 and the other series. I'm still playing GPR2 online at least once a week... found some scary stats in my PGR2 profile the other day 190hrs of online play! :( scary

how come nobody ever told me my ass was so bi... uh... i mean... has no one seen this before? IGN has stuff going back to like august of last year :(

admitedly the idea of using the bodies as projectiles in minigames is a special twisted kind of genius! even if this game sucks rocks i feel i may have to buy it anyway... corpse throwing just seems like to much fun to pass up!

If you want to buy real estate, you would have to get the mortgage loans. Moreover, my sister usually utilizes a collateral loan, which supposes to be really rapid.
