We love statistics and sales figures. We love them because, well, essentially they are about as accurate as an investment banker's grasp on actual, real life money and that fills us with the knowledge that life is chaos after all. So, what happens if two sets of trusted stats disagree? A lot of grief and screaming. But that could never happen.

This has indeed happened as Japanese stat counter, MediaCreate has released its hardware sales figures for the week of September 8th to the 14th. They contradict those produced by Enterbrain and published in Famitsu in one major aspect: MediaCreate says that the Wii outsold the Xbox 360.

Where Enterbrain said, "Microsoft Xbox 360 = 28,681", MediaCreate says, "Microsoft Xbox 360 = 28,188".

Where Enterbrain said, "Nintendo Wii = 27,057"; MediaCreate says, "Nintendo Wii = 29,686.

One thing both are basically in agreement with, however, is the PS3's sales. Enterbrain said, "8,050"; MediaCreate says, "8,053". So, at least Xbots will still have something to crow about.

Still, sales figures eh? They're enough to give your shareholders the willies.
